Behind the Renovation: Oceanfront Gambrel
This gambrel home, located along one of the most scenic stretches of coastline in the New Hampshire seacoast, was built by CM Ragusa years ago. The new client was hoping to give this already beautiful home a refresh and add her personal touch to the home. One of the most beautiful aspects of the home is the architecture that defines a gambrel, the shaker roof, distinctive roof lines, and a striking appearance. We collaborated with LDa Architects on this exterior and interior renovation.
One of the most impactful changes on the exterior of the home was the new cedar roof, which has brought a beautiful, refreshed look that makes an immediate impact. New doors and windows updated the overall look of the home and help to achieve the bright, coastal aesthetic that the client and LDa envisioned for this home.
Behind this home are endless views of the picturesque ocean and golf course. Just off of the kitchen, a flagstone patio gently winds down to the golf course. This space will also be included in the redesign and will receive new landscaping. A new pergola was added over the entire patio creating a more elevated look and providing some needed shade to make this space a true extension of the home.
Each room received a fresh coat of paint, creating a cohesive flow and elevating the overall aesthetic with a unified color palette. The transformation was further enhanced by the thoughtful addition of wallpaper in select spaces. Carefully chosen patterns and hues were applied in key areas—including a playful child’s bedroom, the serene primary suite, and the stylish bathrooms—adding depth, personality, and visual interest. These well-considered design choices brought both color and character into the home, striking a perfect balance between sophistication and warmth.
